Today Minnesota’s governor, who just happens to be a potential 2010 GOP presidential candidate, unveiled his version of health reform — coincidentally occurring on the day of the Senate finance vote.
Among the changes [Governor Tim] Pawlenty proposed for next year’s legislative session would allow Minnesotans to buy their health insurance in other states, which is currently prohibited under state law. [...] As Pawlenty unveiled his initiatives this morning, the pivotal U.S. Senate Finance Committee is poised to approve sweeping legislation requiring nearly all Americans to purchase insurance and ushering in a host of other changes to the nation’s $2.5 trillion medical system.
Pawlenty would also overhaul premium payments under the state’s Medicaid managed care system to level the competition with private plans locally via tiering. | LINK
