What does the drive for healthcare reform have to do with climate control? The degree of “bipartisanship” needed to pass any sort of reform will be used as a barometer in the senate once debate on the issue reaches that body. Currently, legislation to limit the amount of carbon emissions by the end of the next decade to those of 2005 levels has passed the House; but senate wrangling on the issue is another matter altogether — especially when it comes to states that utilize coal burning technology as a cost-saving alternative to electricity. According to senate independent Joe Lieberman (I-CT), it’s all about saving money, and the senators who are seen as balking at what they see is simply too much government intrusion into healthcare delivery will gladly do so with respect to a referendum on anything with the word “public” included. | LINK
