Is a delay to the vote really working for the two sides in Congress which are charged with hammering out some sort of agreement to get some sort of health reform legislation passed? It seems as though the only thing active in this recess month is passionate debate on between sides outside of Capitol Hill. Whether you believe those contentious townhalls are contrived or genuine; or that the ads flooding the airwaves are true or circumspect; one thing’s for sure — the only thing that is constant in this Great Debate on Health Care Reform is that what was once ironclad is now quite far from it. Consider the news quietly rolled out over the weekend that the Senate’s second in command, Richard Durbin (D-IL), said that he’s “open” to health care reform that doesn’t include a government-run public option. It’s the latest wrinkle in the evolution of sound legislation once admired and backed by every political stripe — now headed on the path toward folly. | LINK
