Personalized Healthcare Delivery Maintains in Shaky Economy

Even in tough economic times and amid declining personal portfolios, some patients still put tremendous (financial) investment in their health. The healthcare boomlet that is concierge, or boutique, care in this country may not be growing as rapidly as its proponents may have hoped; but the trend is holding steady. As the name suggests, individual patients and families who participate in such arrangements often pay a hefty premium for literal round-the-clock personalized care  – usually including housecalls.

Even those who have cut back on other amenities because of job loss or other catastrophe are continuing such care because they see it as a particularly sound investment. Concierge care does have its detractors, however. Citing elitism among providers and patients, they say that such delivery of healthcare further increases the chasm of access to care in this country. But, as the patients who are able to benefit will say, close and diligent care will keep them from getting sick and hospitalized. Hard to argue with that. | LINK
