There’s a red hot Internet meme floating out there, and it has to do with a rare and painful injury of one of the more sensitive portions of the male anatomy. In an episode of the hit TV series Grey’s Anatomy, a physician’s character suffers a penile fracture. Although not a “real” fracture (insert joke about “boners” here), it might as well be called one if one takes into account the pain which results.
The cause of this condition can be as varied as the number of postions in the Kama Sutra and results in the fibrous sheath covering the spongy tissue that comprises the bulk of the penis. Consequently, blood can pool just underneath the shaft’s skin and can not only produce pain but also potentially cut off blood supply — leading to significant disability. It is a true urologic emergency. And it’s your Doctor Pundit medical school lesson of the day. | LINK
